CTDT recently participated at the Southern Province Tourism, Agriculture and Commercial Show (STACS)in Livingstone and the National Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka, held under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change.”
CTDT localized the theme to reflect its core mission: “Adapting to Climate Change: Local Seeds, Local Solutions.” Through exhibitions, the organization showcased how farmer-managed seed systems and agroecological practices are helping communities respond to climate challenges.
At both events, CTDT demonstrated the power of local seed diversity, climate resilient farming, and women’s leadership in transforming agriculture from the grassroots. The seed and local food plants display attracted wide interest from farmers, students, policymakers, and other stakeholders, who engaged with CTDT’s work on seed saving, community seed banks, and various farmer innovations.
At the show in Lusaka, CTDT’s efforts were recognized with two first prize awards: Best Climate Smart Initiative and Best Women Enterprise in Agriculture. At the STACS, CTDT scooped the first prize award being 'Best NGO.' The awards affirm the organization’s continued impact in promoting locally driven solutions that put farmers especially women at the center of climate adaptation and food sovereignty.
